Activity
Purpose
The purpose of this lesson is for children to be active. Preschool children should accumulate at least 60 minutes of structured physical activity every day and 60 minutes of unstructured physical activity every day.
Equipment Required
Before the Lesson
Remove shoes. It is also helpful to remove belts or other things that might restrict breathing.
Provide enough space for the children to stretch out without touching each other.
Do the exercises on carpet, or provide a mat, blanket or towel for each child.
Take care that the towel or blanket will not be slippery on the floor.
Learning Objective
For children to accumulate at least 5 to 10 minutes of structured physical activity. Explore new ways to move. Achieve a sense of strength, flexibility and calmness.
Enrichment
- Look at the shapes drawn in the back of the booklet provided with the music album.
- Make your own large drawings for the children to see.
- Play an instrumental selection (tracks 8-14) and have the children try some of the new shapes.
