Activity
Purpose
The purpose of this lesson is for children to be active. Preschool children should accumulate at least 60 minutes of structured physical activity every day and 60 minutes of unstructured physical activity every day.
Equipment Required
Before the Lesson
Ensure there is enough space for children to move as they please.
Learning Objective
For children to accumulate at least 5–10 minutes of structured physical activity.
Enrichment
- Make shiny stars from yellow construction paper and glitter. Use star and circle-shaped sponges to create planets and stars on a large sheet of dark-colored bulletin board paper. Add rocket ship and astronaut stickers (or magazine cut-outs). Make rocket ships from toilet paper tubes.
- Encourage children to go outside with an adult at night to look at the stars.
- Read I Wonder Why the Stars Twinkle and Other Questions About Space, by Carol Stott, or other books about stars, the moon, or space.
