Activity

How to play

Instruct children to place hoops around their waists. Explain that each child is now a car. Make sure they understand that they are not allowed to touch anyone, otherwise their car will crash! Ask children to turn on their engines and when you call out “Green Light”, they can go. Allow them to move around the play space, preferably around a track that you can set up with cones or spot markers. When you call out “Red Light” this will be the signal for children to Stop. They must stop immediately! “Green Light” is their signal to go again. If they are doing well with red and green, you can add yellow. When you call out “Yellow Light” children should slow down and get ready to stop.

Set Up for Success

Hula hoops are not essential for this activity.
